
China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP) signed an extended MOU on cooperation with Proctor & Gamble (China), a leading consumer products company, on October 30. CELAP’s Executive Vice President Feng Jun and Werner Geissler, Vice Chairman of Proctor & Gamble Co., attended the signing ceremony. CELAP’s Vice President Jiang Haishan and Chairman of Proctor & Gamble (China) Shannan Stevenson signed on the MOU.
CELAP Director-General Song Jin, Zhang Shengxin and Proctor & Gamble’s Gao Yunsong also attended the signing ceremony, which was chaired by Liu Genfa, Deputy Director General of Department of International Exchange and Program Development.
In his welcome speech, Feng Jun recalled the exchange and cooperation between CELAP and Proctor & Gamble on human resources development, leadership training and international courses. The fruitful cooperation not only benefits from the sincere wish of the two sides but also embodies the smooth communications and excellent efficiency. He wished the two sides to broaden cooperative fields by initiating more creative methods in the future.
Werner Geissler deemed the cooperation between Proctor & Gamble and CELAP during the past three years a win-win pattern. He said his company has enhanced understanding toward China’s business environment, cultural tradition and Chinese customers due to the exchange with CLEAP faculty. In an era of rapid change, both Proctor & Gamble and CELAP would march along shoulder to shoulder in dealing with new challenges through continued studies. He expected the two sides to enhance cooperation on the basis of increasing trust, saying that Proctor & Gamble would like to contribute more to the teaching of CELAP in the future.

Before the signing ceremony, Feng Jun, on behalf of CELAP, issued a letter of appointment to Werner Geissler, engaging him as visiting professor of the academy. Feng also briefed him China’s leadership training and relevant systems as well as the functions, scale and characteristics of CELAP. Jiang Haishan then showed around the guests CELAP’s exhibition that sums up the cooperation between CELAP and Proctor & Gamble.
Starting from August 2012 when CELAP signed the first MOU on cooperation with Proctor & Gamble, the two sides have conducted abundant exchanges in the training of teachers, international courses and site visits. Supported by the company, CELAP has dispatched four groups of teachers and management personnel to the US to study its political, economic, social and cultural knowledge, especially the management and enterprise culture of the company. On the other hand, senior management officials from Proctor & Gamble such as former chairman Robert McDonald, former chief officer of external affairs Christopher Hassall were invited to teach lessons at CELAP to share their management practice among CELAP participants. Proctor & Gamble Jiangsu branch was also selected as a training base to illustrate its advanced management mould as a transnational enterprise.
