Prof. Feng Jun Addresses the Opening Ceremony of 12th Seminar on “Global Leadership Practices” for Australian Senior Public Servants



 

On Sep 15, the 12th seminar on “Global Leadership Practices” for Australian senior public servants kicked off at CELAP. Prof. Feng Jun, Executive Vice President of CELAP, Ms. Alice Cawte, Australian Consul-General in Shanghai, Mr. Andrew Simon, President of Yellow Edge, attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Liu Genfa, Deputy Director-General of Dept. of International Exchange and Program Development.

 

Prof. Feng Jun welcomed all the participants on behalf of CELAP and extended his appreciation for the support of Yellow Edge. He hopes that participants could gain knowledge of China’s economic and social development and share their wisdom and experiences in the fields of leadership construction and civil service through combined activities of lectures, site visits and seminars, thus promoting China-Australia political, economic, and cultural cooperation.

 

Ms. Alice Cawte strengthened the significance of deepening understanding and promoting cooperation between China and Australia against the backdrop of China’s rapid economic development. Mr. Andrew Simon announced that the “Study Canberra” initiative, co-sponsored by ACT government and Yellow Edge, will be used to finance outstanding Australian civil servants to participate in “Global Leadership Practices” programs. He hopes that participants can take advantage of this opportunity to better know China and share more thoughts.

 

 

After the opening ceremony, Prof. Feng gave a lecture on “Confucianism and Chinese Traditional Values”. He made an interpretation of the origins, development and profound impact of Confucianism, as well as Chinese people’s views on the universe and society.

 

The program will last for 5 days, during which the participants will have a comprehensive understanding of China’s basic conditions, China’s government structure and decision system, China’s educational system development, China’s new rural construction, and China-Australia economic & trade ties. They will also visit Shanghai Municipal Government, public organizations and enterprises.

 

The “Global Leadership Practices” program is an international cooperative training initiative developed by CELAP, and won an award in 2013 quality assessment of CELAP, CELAJ and CELAY. The program has been hosted consecutively for 11 cohorts since 2008.
