Sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the seminar on innovation in government structure and public administration for ministers in Africa countries came to an end smoothly after a week-long study at CELAP on Aug. 31, 2014. Prof. Wang Jinding, Vice President of CELAP, addressed the closing ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Mr. Liu Genfa, Deputy Director-General of Department of International Exchange and Program Development.
In his speech, Prof. Wang Jinding reviewed the whole program, he said, “the multiple interactive activities you joined in may have deepened your understanding of China’s government management innovation and socioeconomic development. And I hope you could serve as a bridge in China-Africa communication and interaction in the future.” He also noted that China and Africa both belong to the third world; both sides seek common development on the basis of mutual understanding. CELAP hopes to expand communication and cooperation with African friends, and improve officials’ governing capacity with joint efforts.
Representing the participants, Ms. Miriam Rutendo Chikukwa, Minister for Harare Metropolitan Province of Zimbabwe, expressed her gratitude to the Chinese government and CELAP. She said the week spent at CELAP is productive, and that she learned Chinese experiences in developing economy step by step, protecting traditional culture, promoting education equality, and running the country according to the rule of law. She suggested that participants should take advantage of China’s experiences according to concrete situations of their nations.
Lasting a week, the seminar attracted 11 ministerial officials from Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Africa and Malawi.
