In cooperation with Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) of India, CELAP successfully hosted the first Program for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officers from Oct. 19th to 23rd. Prof. Feng Jun, Executive Vice President of CELAP, addressed the closing ceremony.
In his speech, Prof. Feng spoke highly of the performance of IAS Officers. He pointed out that being the biggest developing countries in the world, China and India are having greater influence over the world’s trading system, financial order as well as the Asia-Pacific regional integration drive. To plan for a better future, the establishment of the New Development Bank by the BRICS countries and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has opened up more opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation on the building of a closer development partnership, which has become a common aspiration shared between the two countries. As a state-level leadership academy, CELAP is willing to work with our Indian friends and be more engaged in exchange of governance experience.
Mr. Tripurari Sharan, Head of Group and Principal Secretary of Department of Industries in the Government of Bihar, gave a speech on behalf of the participants. He said, China and India are facing the same issues in transformation. The participants have witnessed the growth of China and better learnt China’s political, economic and cultural development in this program. He hopes to further share experiences and challenges in development of two countries in the future.
The program consists of 27 senior IAS officers. During the study tour, participants attended lectures on Urban Crisis Management & Disaster Prevention and Relief, Economy and FDI Attraction in Shanghai, etc., and went to Kunshan City and Shanghai Caohejing Hi-tech Park to study the latest experiences of China’s socio-economic development.
