Professor Tang Shenglan from Duke University Lectures at CELAP



On May 26, 2018, Professor Tang Shenglan from Duke University lectured at CELAP for the participants of the “Workshop on Implementing the Strategy of Healthy China”. In October 2016, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council of China issued the Outline of “Healthy China 2030 Plan”; and in October 2017, the CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping further highlighted the Healthy China Plan as a national strategy at the 19th National Congress of the CPC. As part of the effort to better facilitate the implementation of the Healthy China strategy, CELAP invited Prof. Tang Shenglan to give a lecture from international comparative perspectives, during which Prof. Tang shared with the participants his view on the problems, challenges and solutions of implementing the Healthy China 2030 Plan, followed by an interactive discussion. The lecture was very well received.

Prof. Tang Shenglan is a tenured professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Medicine at Duke University, who is also serving as Director of the Global Health Institute at Duke Kunshan University in China, Director of Kunshan Research Center for WHO Asia-Pacific Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, and President of Chinese Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CCUGH). He used to work at the WHO Representative Office in China as a senior project manager.
