Recently, Professor Shang-Jin Wei of Columbia University visited CELAP. Prof. Zheng Jinzhou, Vice President of CELAP, met with Prof. Wei and had a talk on future cooperation and exchanges. Mr. Liu Genfa, Deputy Director-General of international exchange, was also present at the meeting. Following the meeting, Prof. Wei gave a lecture entitled “Trade Disputes and Financial Liberalization” to participants of program on “deepening supply side reforms” (3rd session).  

Professor Wei analyzed the international background to the China-US trade dispute, put forward suggestions for dealing with it based on China’s existing conditions, and forecasted China’s future economic development prospects. Following the lecture, he had an interactive discussion with the participants.

Professor Wei currently serves as a tenured professor at Columbia University, and a visiting professor at Fudan University’s Fanhai International School of Finance. He is a research group head at the International Monetary Fund, and an advisor at the World Bank.
