CELAP held a collective lesson preparation meeting for an in-depth study of the guidelines of the 20th National Congress of the CPC

On October 24, CELAP hosted a collective lesson preparation meeting for an in-depth study of the report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC (the “Congress”), where discussions were held on how to strengthen curriculum development and optimize teaching arrangements. The meeting was attended by Prof. Cao Wenze, Executive Vice President of CELAP, and Prof. Zheng Jinzhou and Prof. Liu Jingbei, Vice Presidents of CELAP. Jiang Liping, a delegate of the Congress and Chief Manufacturing Engineer of Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), was invited to deliver a report.

Prof. Cao Wenze stressed the importance to put the guidelines into practice and deliver tangible results. He urged the attendees to incorporate the guidelines “into the training programs, teaching topics, researches, curriculum, teaching materials, cases, and participants’ mind”, as part of an effort to develop CELAP as a premium platform for teaching, training, researching and publicizing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Jiang Liping reviewed her experience of attending the Congress and shared what she had learned from the report to the Conference. Her presentation included three sections, i.e. “About the 20th CPC National Congress”, “Key points of the report” and “My experience”. Her vivid and inspiring speech won one burst of applause after another.

Each expert present at the meeting shared what they had gained from the report, as well as ideas for preparing teaching materials. Prof. Liu Jingbei proposed that everyone read and study the report in its entirety and implement the guidelines of the report in all aspects of our endeavor to develop a curriculum system of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Therefore, new courses shall be developed to enrich and improve the previous curriculum.

Prof. Zheng Jinzhou noted that the effort to bring the guidelines of the 20th National Congress into the classroom should adhere to the principles of “accuracy, comprehensiveness, and thoroughness”. First of all, we need to develop the general course, properly set the course topics and contents, and adopt the most appropriate teaching methods. Secondly, we should develop a set of sub-courses to form a curriculum system for teaching the guidelines of the Congress. Thirdly, we must polish the featured programs and tap deeper into the potential of on-site and case-based teaching. Fourthly, we shall develop more online courses and continue to launch related topics.

More than 30 people attended the meeting, including the heads of the General Office, the Department of Teaching Administration, the Department of International Exchange and Program Development, the Department of Academics, and the Department of Research Administration, as well as relevant experts in the Academy.
