On May 25, in accordance with the requirement for themed education on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, CELAP held a book reading session, which served also as a learning session for the theoretical study group of CELAP’s Executive Committee. The session was presided over by Prof. Cao Wenze, Executive Vice President of CELAP, and Head of the Themed Education Leadership Group. Members of CELAP’s leadership team attended the session.

It is noted at the session that the general requirements and goals of the themed education must be followed as we conscientiously study and implement the guidelines of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions on leadership education and teaching at CELAP. We must comply with the requirements of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, as we try to detect and rectify our own problems throughout the process of learning. We must be strict with academy governance and uphold quality as the foundation of our mission. We must follow the most stringent political, academic, teaching, and management standards, and play our roles as a “purifier” of dishonest practices, a “melting pot” for Party spirit cultivation, and a “weather vane” for comprehensively and strictly governing the Party. We must give more attention to both our teachers and participants. On the one hand, we must strengthen the political discipline of our teachers so that they concentrate on their academic teaching and be strict with the participants. On the other, we must ensure that the participants are inspired by the learning atmosphere to the point that they voluntarily practice austerity and integrity.

At the session, the guidelines of the May 23 Shanghai Municipal Party Committee’s Themed Education Seminar on the Study and Implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the Learning Session of the Municipal Party Committee Central Group were conveyed.

Prof. Xiong Yun, Vice President of CELAP, delivered a keynote speech, which revolved around General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important remarks on strict academy governance, coupled with the reality at CELAP and the survey done previously.

Heads of all departments and divisions of CELAP attended the session.
