On May 12, a 16-member delegation of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council of the System (the “Council”) headed by Secretary-General Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr visited CELAP. The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Yu Wei, Deputy Director of the Third Bureau of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and received by Prof. Zheng Jinzhou, Vice President of CELAP.

On behalf of the Academy, Prof. Zheng Jinzhou extended warm welcome and sincere greetings to Secretary-General Zolghadr and his delegation. He introduced the system in which CPC trains its leaders, the establishment, development, and functional positioning of CELAP. Specifically, he expounded on the teaching themes, curriculum design, and training programs concerning the guidelines of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the promotion of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through the Chinese path to modernization. He also noted that CELAP would play a better role as a window for international cooperation and exchanges in leadership education and training, and would be willing to work with Iranian higher educational institutions to strengthen cooperation and friendship.

Secretary-General Zolghadr introduced the major duties and functions of the Council and expressed that it was his pleasure to lead a delegation to CELAP during his visit to China. He mentioned that the Council has maintained communication with China and has continued to deepen and expand cooperation in many fields over the years. Through the visit, the delegation learned more about how the CPC effectively governs the country, especially the advanced practices of cultivating the leaders' ability to push forward China's modernization drive. This will undoubtedly promote exchanges and mutual learning between the two sides.

During the symposium, the two sides had lively interactions on issues such as international cooperation in training, how to develop an international faculty, and how to improve the training and assessment system. The delegation also visited the teaching venues of CELAP, such as Themed Classroom on Pudong’s Development and Opening-up.
