On May 15, the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China (Chinese Academy of Governance) held an opening ceremony for the second seminar of the spring semester of 2023. The ceremony was watched by participants from China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong, Jinggangshan, and Yan'an through a video conference system. Chen Xi, President of the Central Party School (Chinese Academy of Governance), attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, in which he emphasized the need to persevere in using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to shape our mind and soul, constantly consolidate the ideological foundation of “Two Establishments” and “Two Upholds”. He also stressed the importance to improve the theoretical understanding and practical application of Marxism on our unrelenting path to comprehensively build a socialist modern country and promote the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Chen Xi pointed out that the world outlook and methodology contained in Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era represent a major achievement of the CPC in promoting theoretical innovation, a glaring example of the application of dialectical materialism and historical materialism, and an ideological lighthouse that guides the cause of the Party and the country in the new era. Leaders are supposed to take the opportunity of the themed education to gain a deeper understanding of the world outlook and methodology of this important thought, adhere to and make good use of the standpoints and methods contained in it, and consciously achieve “Six Adheres”, i.e. adhering to the principle of putting the people first, self-confidence and self-reliance, integrity and innovation, problem orientation, a systematic approach, and a global vision. It is important for the leaders to translate the theoretical learning into practical actions to transform their subjective and objective worlds, i.e. enhanced loyalty to the Party, greater empathy for the people, courage to assume responsibilities, skills to solve practical problems, and reinforced integrity. The training is expected to produce tangible results in terms of shaping the leaders mind and soul, and boosting their wisdom, integrity, and practicality.

The opening ceremony was attended by Prof. Cao Wenze, Executive Vice President, and other members of CELAP’s leadership team, Shen Tianzhu, Deputy Head of the Second Tour Steering Group of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and other group members, and all participants and faculty members of CELAP at the branch venue of CELAP.
