Women Leaders from English-speaking Caribbean visits CELAP



On July 17, at the invitation of the International Department of the Communist Party of China and the All-China Women’s Federation, a delegation comprising 23 women leaders from the English-speaking Caribbean visited CELAP. Prof. Zheng Jinzhou, Vice President of CELAP, along with Mr. Liu Genfa, Director-General of Department of International Exchange and Program Development, received the delegation at the welcome ceremony.

Prof. Zheng Jinzhou warmly welcomed the delegation and provided a brief overview of CELAP, in which he shared the academy’s development history, functional positioning, and unique features in terms of its educational approach. He highlighted the deepening of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and the Caribbean since President Xi Jinping’s visit in 2013. He also emphasized that this partnership has yielded fruitful results, setting an example of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and common development between nations of different sizes. Lastly, Zheng expressed hope that through this tour, both sides can deepen their understanding and subsequently promote further cooperation and exchanges, and share their experience and wisdom in governance.

Following the welcome ceremony, Dr. Bai Xuezhu delivered a speech titled “Strengthening Effective Governance and Promoting Global Cooperation” to the delegation, and engaged in in-depth discussions with the guests on various topics, including global development initiatives, targeted poverty alleviation, and the training of women leaders.
