From September 5 to 14, 2024, at the invitation of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (IDCPC), a delegation of Fiji senior civil servants arrived at CELAP to participate in Fiji Senior Public Servant Workshop 2024. The workshop was led by the Acting Director of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fiji, Mr. Paulo Daurewa, and comprised a total of 24 participants. CELAP’s Vice President Zheng Jinzhou was present at both the opening and closing ceremonies, delivering speeches on both occasions. Mr. Zhao Hongtao, Deputy Director of Bureau VII of the IDCPC, also delivered a speech at the closing ceremony. Mr. Liu Genfa, Director General of the Department of International Exchange and Program Development at CELAP, presided over the ceremonies. During the 10-day program, the participants explored a range of topics, including the guidelines from the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the idea of fostering a global community with a shared future, the application of the rule of law in China's systemic reforms, innovative ways used by Chinese local governments to improve the business environment, and China's policies and practices for tackling climate change. They also went on field trips to observe China's recent economic and social progress. Their itinerary featured visits to notable sites such as the Shanghai Tower, the Gubei Civic Center in Changning District, Chongming Island, and Jiangxiang Village in Changshu City, Jiangsu Province. Moreover, they immersed themselves in traditional Chinese culture with a visit to the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe. The program was a resounding success, receiving high praise from the Fijian participants. In his closing remarks, Mr. Paulo Daurewa described the program as an essential lesson in their professional careers. He emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained to practical actions that benefit the Fijian people. He also acknowledged the leadership of the Communist Party of China in leading the Chinese people towards national rejuvenation through the Chinese path to modernization, emphasizing its fundamental role in China’s development. Many participants who visited China for the first time expressed that the study tour had fundamentally changed their previous perceptions of the country. They pledged to share a more objective and authentic image of China with the Fijian people upon their return. |
