On the morning of April 18, 2025, Mr. Patrick Zeng, CEO of Greater China at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), was invited to deliver a lecture at CELAP for the “Program on Deepening Financial System Reform,” with the theme of “Preventing Financial Risks and Supporting High-Quality Economic Development.”

Mr. Zeng provided an overview of the current global economic environment and analyzed the trends and major challenges faced by international financial markets. Specifically, he discussed the economic outlook for both the global economy and China-U.S. relations in the context of new dynamics brought about by U.S. tariff increases, and explored how effective risk management strategies can help mitigate conflict and support high-quality growth. Based on cases, he shared international best practices from the financial and insurance sectors, offering a clear and insightful explanation of the importance of financial risk management and how to maintain steady growth amid a complex and evolving market landscape.

During the interactive session, participants posed a number of questions to the lecturer and had lively discussions on topics such as the impact of U.S. tariffs on China, the valuation and risk control of Chinese enterprises, and other hot topics. The lecture deepened participants’ understanding of global financial markets and played a positive role in broadening the international perspective and enhancing the governance capacity of officials.
