Established in 2009, the CELAP Institutes for Socialism with Chinese Characteristics slates to organize theoretical studies and activities on socialism with Chinese characteristics, organizes typical cases and offers teaching and consulting services for CELAP. Professor Li Junru, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, who is also former Vice President of the Central Party School, serves as the head of the institute. Professor Liu Jingbei, Director-General of the CELAP Department of Research Administration, works as the executive dean of the institute. Professor Liu Xian and Professor Yu Hongsheng act as vice deans of the institute. Besides, there are more than 20 researchers at the institute, of whom more than 90 percent have intermediate and advanced titles.
　　During the past years, the institute has organized various research and academic activities on reform and opening-up, socialism with Chinese characteristics. It also worked with people.com.cn website and China Organization and Personnel newspaper to collect innovative cases of Party organizations at grassroots level. It organized the Forum on Grassroots Party Organization, which was warmly welcomed among the nation’s organization system and provided vivid resources for CELAP’s teaching. In 2009, the institute was named a study base on socialism with Chinese characteristics by Shanghai Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences.
