Thematic Classroom of Pudong Development and Opening Up

The Thematic Classroom of Pudong Development and Opening Up, in use since 2018, is a multi-functional space that integrates teaching, seminars, forums, literature research, and more. It records and presents the progress, milestones, achievements, and experiences of Pudong New Area’s development and opening-up over the years. The facility serves as an important venue and a distinctive platform for CELAP to incorporate innovative experiences and practical cases of Pudong’s development and opening-up into education, training, academic research, decision-making, and other fields. Additionally, it facilitates professional development and education on the enterprising spirit embodied in reform and opening-up.

The classroom is divided into seven sections: major decisions, milestones, forging ahead, innovation-driven development, building Shanghai’s four brands, i.e. services, manufacturing, shopping, and culture, refining social governance, and the ongoing endeavor of Party building. It highlights the achievements and valuable experiences of Pudong New Area in areas such as opening-up, technological innovation, people’s livelihood and social governance, and grassroots Party building in urban areas since the central government officially approved the development and opening-up of Pudong on April 1, 1990.
